The two day meeting stems from the initial meeting that took place on the 2nd February 2023 in Pretoria South Africa. The Honourable Minister Lephema said in their discussion, it has been agreed that, they work with agility and strengthen mutual cooperation to end cross border crimes among others being Human Trafficking, stock theft, money laundering linked to cash in transit heists and illegal mining called “Zama Zamas” . “We remain stubborn in our pursuit of safety and justice beyond our borders and remain resolute that criminals will not run amok between Lesotho and South Africa without any repercussions” he said.

On 22nd November 2022, 17 journalists from different media houses in Lesotho were awarded presents by Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso for their role in raising awareness about Child Marriage, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Trafficking In Persons. Among these 17 journalist there were three top achievers who got themselves smart phones, tablets, digital cameras, cheque amounting to M2, 00.00 each, Trophy and appreciation certificates.

Monday, the 27thJune,2022, marked a milestone which Lesotho commemorated the day for the African Child at Libibing Mokhotlong. This year’s theme is eliminating harmful practices affecting children; progress on policy and practice since 2013.

This event was graced by the presence of Her Majesty Queen Masenate Bereng Seeiso. In her keynote address, the Queen highlighted that the actual date for the commemoration is 16th June, however Lesotho has a mammoth task of eliminating harmful practices affecting child.

On Thursday, 23 June 2022; the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs Motlalentoa Letsosa announced revised measures of passport application. This was done after the Ministry learnt that Basotho apply for passports when they do not really need them, since after applying they do not collect them. It was on this basis and other reasons that the Minister announced that as of 01 July 2022, passport application will be under stringent interviewing before a passport could be issued to an applicant.

On the 07th May 2022, there was an event to celebrate the importance of shepherds held at St. Leuis Catholic Church in Mahloenyeng, Matsieng, Maseru. The Honourable Minister of Home Affairs Motlalentoa Letsosa was there to sensitize the shepherds and other community members about human trafficking and the identity documents and birth certificates registrations took place. On that ceremony, 22 students who attended the event got their birth certificates, 12 got their identity documents while shepherds continued registering.

The purpose for the visit was to assess the daily functions of the decentralized agency.

The Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Core team, comprising three government Ministries of Home Affairs, Health, and Development Planning (Bureau of Statistics) presented excess mortality report on pre-Covid-19, being 2015-2019 and during 2020-2021 Covid-19 periods.

On Monday, September 6th 2021, the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs Motlalentoa Letsosa held a press conference on suspension of citizenship applications and announcement of revised visa requirements.

After the Ministry intercepted number of foreign nationals who attempted to illegally enter the country using fraudulent visas, the Ministry further reviewed its internal controls in terms of issuance of VISAs as well as Residence Permits.
